It aims to achieve this through:
*The on-going development and application of a widely agreed statement of ethical and professional standards in coaching and mentoring *Creation and support of forums, using traditional and new media, for dialogue and mutual learning across the spectrum of mentoring and coaching *Lobbying, where appropriate, to support socially responsible coaching and mentoring in all sectors of employment and community development *Stimulation of research and benchmarking *Maintenance of an extensive library of materials on coaching and mentoring *Respecting the wide range of perspectives and approaches to mentoring, coaching and the complementary professions that may be appropriate for different contexts *Recognising the continuous professional development needs, and valid options for meeting those needs, of all levels of experience of coaching and mentoring, from full time professionals to occasional volunteers, within an appropriate framework of standards *Recognising the needs of consumers of coaching and mentoring services for an authoritative, impartial and objective source of information on the quality of service provision available in their geographical area *Improving communications between providers of mentoring and coaching services; their clients and customers, both individual and organisational and academics engaged in the search for good practice in coaching and mentoring *Providing a membership forum for all those involved in the wide variety of the applications of coaching and mentoring, while placing its greatest emphasis on those areas, which are not already well represented by other bodies. *Ensure that our working practices and professional relationships reflect the underlying values expressed in this statement and are kept under regular review.
